An earl crushed by the belief that bad luck follows him around… and Martin’s Snowy Night with Lord Hauxton does the matchmaking.
I really liked this Martin. It’s the sequel to Her Best Friend, the Duke, and this time the hero doesn’t have to go from cold fish to sweetheart, so Martin handles it beautifully.

A grumpy and sunshine historical romance

A grumpy and sunshine historical romance. The heroine, Henrietta, is delightful, full of sparkle and personality. Her job is to lift the spirits of an earl weighed down by bad luck.

A period romance with an unlucky earl

A period romance with an unlucky earl. Is he really doomed to lose everyone he loves? Cyclone Henrietta gives him no way out, and since the earl isn’t made of stone, it all ends beautifully.

A Regency with a contrived finale

A Regency romance with a finale that will not yield. As always, though, Martin’s last three pages are irritating. She can’t build the hero’s final surrender. All she had to do was make him give in, bent by the wish to caress Henrietta and hold her close, then have him joke bittersweetly about himself in a whisper: “I’m a murderer on the loose. I hope you’ll love me anyway.” Five stars.

Un historical romance grumpy and sunshine

Un historical romance grumpy and sunshine.
