Gorgeous. There isn’t much to say. Truly gorgeous. It’s the story of a little girl, her grandfather, and worms, earthworms, opossums, studied with scientific precision and just as much sense of wonder.

Masterful writing

A rigorous, lexically rich language that never once turns saccharine. Masterful for how vivid the characters and settings are.

Wit and social commentary

Readers of this novel will get to follow the undercurrent about women’s condition, and take particular interest in that ladies’ tonic, “Lydia E. Pinkham’s Vegetable Compound,” known as the Best Blood Purifier for Women.

Five stars for readers of fables and comedy, though it deserves ten.

Bellissimo. Non c’è molto da dire. Veramente bellissimo.
