Lyanne Quay

MacGregor has written a couple of titles that are right at the very top of my personal favourites. This one, Rogue Most Wanted, though, deserves a neon sign: GOES WEAK AT THE KNEES.

A historical romance with a damsel in distress

A historical romance with a damsel in distress: the heroine is a Mary Sue tiptoeing on eggshells, a countess in her own right who faces an attempted usurpation and takes it very hard, in the most aristocratic way possible.

On the other side, we’ve got a “bachelor” disillusioned with love, who’s stopped courting women so he doesn’t have to feel vulnerable.

A friends-to-lovers romance novel

A friends-to-lovers romance novel: well, these two get caught in a back-and-forth. “We’re just friends, but maybe I’m in love.” “No, we’re just friends, but you really get to me.” Until, helped along by a glass of whisky, they give in. Wild stuff.

A Regency romance with a jaded hero

A Regency romance with a jaded hero: and to think this novel opens electrifying and beautiful! At the start you get a young aristocrat, brimming with confidence in himself and in life. But right as he goes to formally propose to the girl he loves, he learns she’s about to marry someone else. Not a bad opening at all. Too bad that instead of going soft and mushy, our hero shrivels up inside.
